Feed the Need

About

Holy Rosary Feed the Need stands ready to make an immediate response to a catastrophic urgent need. When natural disasters or other significant events occur, Feed the Need stands ready to provide tens of thousands of nutritionally balanced meals for the victims. Working in conjunction with Catholic Charities & Outreach Inc., meal packaging days will be scheduled as needed. The food packages that we prepare are delivered directly to the area in need as soon as the meals are ready. The process is an assembly line type preparation and is fast and easy. This is an event where your whole family can participate. You can work a one-hour shift and make a significant impact on our ministry of making thousands of meals for this URGENT need. All ages are invited to participate in the packaging of the food (students who volunteer can earn service hours).

Respect Life Committee

About

Making a stand for life through prayer and education, the Holy Rosary Respect Life Committee works year-round to promote respect for life from conception to natural death. The committee sponsors many events such as the annual Respect Life Breakfast, the Baby Shower for Birthright each Mother’s Day; a pro-life essay contest for junior high school students; information booths at the Memphis Italian Festival and at the parish on Respect Life Sunday each October, and pro-life rosaries throughout the year. In addition, several members of the committee and people from other parishes make a visible, prayerful statement for life each Saturday morning by praying a rosary at each of the three abortion facilities in Memphis. Monthly meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m.; all are welcome.

Virtus Training

About

The VIRTUS program identifies best practices designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote “right-doing” within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. In compliance with the U.S. Bishops’ Charter and Norms for the Protection of Children, everyone in the diocese who interacts with children, i.e. teachers, coaches, office staff and others, on a regular basis must attend a VIRTUS training session. VIRTUS training sessions are offered periodically at Holy Rosary and other locations throughout the Diocese and announced in the Sunday bulletin. VIRTUS Facilitator volunteers are needed.
